Evolutionary Astrology consider Pluto correlates with the notion and idea, reality, of evolution. (that is why Jeff Green’s book is called Pluto: the Evolutionary Journey of the Soul). There are two kinds of evolutions. One is non-cataclysmic, slow yet progressive change. This usually denotes a voluntarily or involuntarily cooperation with the change. It is a much comfort, smoother process in making progress. Another is cataclysmic evolution. The idea is that when change becomes necessary, the tendency in the human being (we are talking about big change, not little changes) is to resist (Pluto) that necessary change. When evolution becomes imperative, i.e. if the Soul is trying to accomplish something in whatever area, and if that Soul continues to resist that necessary change at the moment when it is necessary, then a cataclysmic event will occur in order to force that evolution.
Usual during the time of crisis, there tends to be a loss of perspective. We cannot phantom why such thing happens to us. There seems to be some power or force or energy that is in control of these events. This shock will induce necessary reevaluation of our life, and then brand-new perspectives will emanate from that new understanding. Most often it is long after the event, when people look back , the whole reason behind the crisis gradually became clear to them.
Jeff Green spoke of four evolutionary state of consciousness: Dimly Evolved State, Consensus state, Individual State and Spiritual State. There are three sub-stages within each evolutionary state. These states reflect the Soul’s natural evolutionary journey as it reunites and merges with the Creator. These state can not be seen from the chart alone. Evolutionary state has a huge variation in the soul’s awareness of its mission and purpose. The state of awareness often makes a huge difference in the extent of our cooperate/resistance to the evolutionary impulse.
Taking the example of Tyler Hilinkski, he had an Earth Grand Trine – denoting a very steady character. On the other hand, the Earth elements can be too stable for change to the extent that it became fixate on existing condition. Because of lack of awareness and perspective, this rigid mindset became a inner struggle blocks his further growth.
