Fear often is a reflection of our unconscious. There is couple of very striking heavenly signatures writing in the sky Americans’ emotional state. Currently transit Pluto (at about 20 degree of Capricorn) is opposing United States’ Mercury (around 24 degree of Cancer), and together the pair is squaring U.S.A’s Chiron (20 degree of Aries).
Chiron, as I wrote before, symbolizes our inner wound -the need to heal in our psych. Pluto reflects the deep, dark ocean of unconsciousness. Pluto brings to surface whatever suppressed material the planet Pluto connects with. Manifested in our current state of thoughts is some of the long suppressed inner knowing, attitudes and opinions.
Mercury reflects our cognitive ability, our mental orientation. It is the way we communicate with others, as well as our inner thought process, or patterns. U.S.A’s Mercury is in Cancer, it is heavily colored by emotions, inner feelings and thoughts of security.
Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo. The Gemini side is about information collecting/gathering through our connection with exterior environment. It is left brained, rational, and empirically oriented. It is deductive logic and the process of one fact logically connecting to the next fact. As such, there is an emphasis on facts rather than on the deeper metaphysical truths of these facts (Sagittarius polarity point). The risk of Gemini side of Mercury is taking too much information, too much data that connects in so many logical ways that we mentally implode. The Virgo side of Mercury is the discrimination function that analyzes and organizes information. It reflects the need to eliminate or let go of certain outdated or rigid opinions within ourselves that we are creating blocks from an evolutionary point of view, so that we can make mental adjustments.
So this signature get us in touch with our unconscious fear, hurt and many other dark side emotions. When we come to aware something – the forces that are driving our compulsion, it becomes easier to deal with than when we are haunted by our unconsciousness urge without knowing why.
Another factor is current transit nodal axis is on U.S.A chart nodal axis, in other words, USA is recently having a nodal axis return, (this happens every 18 plus years). Plus the July 4th celebration, all reminds us of our past, whatever good or bad. We have many achievements since the creation of this country, but since we want to take care the wound, we are put our emphasis on the bad parts here in discussion.
A vibrant tree and its fruitfulness relates closely to the strength of its root. When we see a blossoming tree, we often forget to appreciate how deep and fasten its root gasps into the earth to support this abundance. Because we tend to only notice the part obvious to the eye and ignore/forget the spiritual/unseen parts – the vigor of the tree is the manifestation of the solidness/fortitude of its root. Similarly, the confidence of a person/country radians naturally from its own his inner self image, the feeling about himself. Just like the root of a tree absorbs all good nutrients into the making of a flourishing tree; our inner self is cultivated through turning the making of many good deeds into the habits/character.
Where does the American culture comes from? It comes from what millions and millions of immigrants (majority are Europeans up to this points) bring to the country, mostly western philosophical tradition, western politics, history, religion and science. Jay L. Garfield, Professor in the Humanities at Smith College, Professor of Philosophy and Buddhist Studies at Harvard Divinity School, observed the current state of Western philosophy this way:
“The larger political history of the discipline is often occluded, and our self-understanding is thereby impaired. Unfortunately, that impairment is not a merely intellectual disability; it has a moral dimension as well. For the Western colonial enterprise, and the racism and blindness to non-Western ideas it enshrines, is as much a part of our intellectual heritage as are Plato, Augustine and Galileo. As a consequence, we are accustomed to regarding “philosophy” as denoting Western philosophy, “metaphysics” as denoting Western metaphysics, “ancient philosophy” as denoting Greek philosophy, and so on… to the extend … European philosophy is just “philosophy”, the unmarked, privileged case, the “core” as it is sometimes put. When we use that phrase, we re-affirm the position of the European tradition at the center of human history, as the most important intellectual tradition the world has ever known, as that around which all others revolve. In the wake of colonialism and in the context of racism, this is both intellectually and morally indefensible.”
“To take the West as the unique locus of philosophical activity was never a good idea. For one thing, it is obviously and demonstrably false. For another, to do so deprives us of valuable philosophical insights. For yet another, in the context of centuries of racism and colonialism, it is to perpetuate at least a passive deprecation of non-Western cultures and people. All of this is a problem for us.”
In the above quotes, Professor Garfield explains clearly where all these White Supremacy idea came from. In the long process of North America colonization as well as United States “civilizing Native Americans in preparation for assimilation”, millions and millions of Native Americans where killed, discriminated, and badly treated while their culture were regarded as barbarous. I do not have the statistic number, but the genocide is no less crime than how Hitler treated Jews. The Germans later repented their infringement of suffer to the Jew by pleading guilty and confessing their crime. The Canadian apologized openly for their crime to the Indigenous North American Indians.
But to this day, United States of America never realize what kind of brutality they have committed while campaigning everywhere in the world “humanitarian”. And as Eldridge Cleaver put it so eloquently, “You’re either part of the solution or you’re part of the problem”. Denial is never a good solution. Acknowledgement is the first step in correcting a problem.
